Gwinnett Business Leader Farooq Mughal Launches Democratic Campaign for Georgia State House District 105.

Dacula, Georgia- Democrat Farooq Mughal of Dacula is launching his campaign for Georgia State House District 105 (Lawrenceville, Dacula, and Buford).

Mughal, who previously chaired the Gwinnett County Community Outreach Board, is a successful business leader and public policy expert. For two decades, he has been a resident of District 105 and East Gwinnett County, where he and his wife are raising their family in Dacula.

Launching his campaign, the week of January 10th, Mughal stated: “The State of Georgia is facing several daunting challenges, including coordinating an effective COVID-19 response, expanding access to healthcare, improving public education, and implementing economic policies that will allow for shared prosperity for every Georgia and a robust recovery from the pandemic.

We need new energy, experience, and trusted leadership now more than ever. After many weeks of thought, deliberation, and discussion with family and friends in the Democratic party, I have decided to seek the office of the Georgia State House District 105.

"We need a State Representative who understands leadership, who has a proven record of accomplishments, who can bring about bipartisan solutions, who can bring people from both sides to the aisle to get things done. I am running because the future of our State is limitless. I am running to build a Georgia that works for everyone.”

Mughal's campaign is focused on fully funding and supporting education, workforce development, supporting small businesses, protecting, and expanding civil and voting rights, and improving healthcare. He is committed to leveraging his award-renowned experience in public policy and government affairs to deliver results for the residents of HD-105.

Out of the gate, Mughal's campaign immediately received endorsements from several key legislative leaders, including:

State Rep. Sam Park (HD 101), Chair of the Gwinnett County House Legislative Caucus.
State Rep. Pedro Marin (HD-96), former Chair of the Gwinnett County House Legislative Caucus and the longest serving Hispanic legislator in the Georgia General Assembly.
State Rep. Carl Gilliard (D-162), Chaplain of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus.

Rep. Pedro Marin stated: "I have known Farooq Mughal since 2004," said Marin. "As a Georgia State Representative, I have had the opportunity to watch Farooq grow into a distinguished gentleman, sharp political strategist, and governmental advisor. I have worked with him on numerous legislations affecting the State of Georgia and partnered on important and crucial issues like civil rights, ethics reform, and immigration. Farooq is highly respected by his peers and among my fellow legislators at the Georgia State Capitol. Georgia HD 105 needs someone with the experience, leadership, and fortitude to govern on day one." In the coming days, leading up to the 2022 elections, Mughal looks forward to actively engaging with the residents of HD-105 to understand their key priorities for a better Georgia.
