Former Rep. Farooq Mughal Urges Gwinnett Families to Assist FBI in North Georgia Child Exploitation Case

DACULA, GA — Former State Representative Farooq Mughal is urging families in the district to assist an active FBI investigation into a freelance photographer accused of secretly recording children in restrooms and at high school athletic events across North Georgia and to come forward anonymously if needed.


Agents are investigating recordings of the bathrooms made between February 2024 and March 2026 at five North Georgia locations, including the Mountain View High School baseball fields in Lawrenceville, the Mill Creek High School basketball stadium in Hoschton, and Rabbit Hill Park in Dacula. The suspect faces state charges for possession of child pornography.


"Most of these incidents happened right here, affecting kids in the community I represented," said Mughal. "As a parent whose own child plays soccer at Rabbit Hill Park, this affects me deeply. Families do not have to come forward publicly. The FBI has a confidential portal for exactly this reason, and anonymity should never stand in the way of helping our kids."


Mughal is calling on Gwinnett County Public Schools to immediately notify parents and legal guardians at Mountain View High School and Mill Creek High School so families can be informed and decide whether to contact the FBI.


He also announced plans for a press conference to raise awareness and explain how the community can assist investigators. Details will follow.
