Dacula, Georgia - In a district where rapid growth has often outpaced infrastructure and community input, former State Representative Farooq Mughal stood firm against unchecked development, fighting for transparency, sustainability, and the voices of local residents.
During his term representing Buford, Dacula, and Lawrenceville, Rep. Mughal pushed back against proposals that would have allowed large developers to bypass residents' input. He advocated for balanced growth that respected neighborhood character, protected green space, and ensured that schools, roads, and public safety services could keep pace.
“As someone who grew up in Gwinnett County, I know firsthand the importance of thoughtful planning,” said Mughal. “Development should serve the residents, not steamroll them. I fought to make sure our communities weren’t sidelined by outside interests.”
Rep. Mughal worked closely with city and county officials, chambers of commerce, and homeowner associations to promote smart development policies. He supported legislation that incentivized mixed-use projects, protected historic corridors, and expanded access to infrastructure grants for underserved areas.
His record reflects a commitment to economic growth that’s inclusive, strategic, and rooted in local values—not just profit margins.
