Dacula - GA (2024) HB 1380 mandates drivers to pull over to the right lane when stopped by a law enforcement officer or emergency vehicle. Under current law, drivers do not have to pull over to the right lane. This would serve as a corrective measure that would help keep both law enforcement and the public safe on the road. A Gwinnett County Police Officer approached Representative Mughal, on this issue citing safety concerns. Representative Mughal is glad this legislation has bipartisan support from fellow Gwinnett legislators. Representative Mughal will continue to listen to and advocate for law enforcement.
HB 1434, the CREW Act, is designed to help the critical responders and essential workers of
our community. Critical responders and essential workers include teachers, law enforcement
officers, firefighters, and EMT service members and technicians. This bill would create a tax
credit for them on necessary items needed in their jobs. This includes items such as additional school supplies and uniforms for first responders. To help address our shortage in these key fields, Representative Mughal is providing financial support to people who work in these industries.
