Mughal Attends Harbins-Alcovy Small Area Plan Meeting, Renews Call to Protect Dacula's Quality of Life

DACULA, GA - Former Representative Farooq Mughal attended the Harbins-Alcovy Small Area Plan meeting at Dacula High School to hear directly from residents about the future of growth in the community. 

"As I have always promised, regardless of political affiliation, I will continue to stand with our community to fight unplanned development, address traffic congestion, and protect our quality of life," said Mughal. "Our neighborhoods deserve thoughtful planning, responsible growth, and a strong voice at every level of government."

Mughal said listening to residents' concerns is essential to getting the plan right. Attendees emphasized several priorities, including:

• Homeownership-focused development: prioritizing single-family homes over rental projects

• No data centers in the Harbins-Alcovy area

• A gym and senior center/community hub to serve residents of all ages

• Improved traffic infrastructure to keep pace with growth

"Our community has been clear about what it wants: development that supports homeownership, not data centers, and real investments like a gym and small businesses that bring people together," Mughal said. "Improving traffic isn't optional; it's a necessity. I want to thank Gwinnett County for taking the time to listen to our community. I'll keep showing up and fighting for a plan that reflects what this community actually needs."
